Editing Is Horrible

Sorry for not posting in a while. It will be 2016 in only a few short months and i'm not ready for that. I'll be 25 soon and i'm equally not ready for that. As the title suggests, I am still editing Dragon Child. I'm not even in the revisions process. I know it will take me over 6 months to finish this. A fellow writing friend and author remarked how I finished DC quickly and that means, at least to me, that there should be alot of mistakes. I know I need to make the voice constant. It is wavering alot throughout the book. Also want to add and take away some scenes, but want to finish the first edits.

It's slow going at this point but making progress is what counts at this point.

I did it! I finished Dragon Child! I finished it a few weeks ago, but just didn't post that on this blog. It has ended up being over 50, 400 words. I'm in the editing process and it's difficult. I've never edited anything before, though i've never finished anything either. I'm looking for alpha readers, but haven't a hard time finding good ones. I can't rely on friends, as they're biased and can't rely on family, as they don't like fantasy fiction. I'm thinking of taking a writing class or attending a writers workshop, but none are in my area.

I just want to finish this book and offer it up to be published. That's always been my dream; to have something published. That would be the day.

Finally Doing This

I've always loved to write. When I was in second grade I would write strange little stories involving James Potter and his friends and their adventures. I finished my first children's book in fourth grade. It wasn't very good. It was about fairies. I wrote many more stories, I just never finished any of them.

I've also always been interested in the fantasy. Dragons were a big thing for me and I suppose that's why I started writing this book. I am still writing it though and i'm surprised. I would have given up ages ago but i'm pushing to finish this book and i'm quite enjoying the process.

I've titled it Dragon Child, but it's a working title. Going to be 40,000 words at least and 15-20 chapters. I'm not pushing for a long book like Harry Potter and his 40 chapters. I just want to finish this. I do plan on editing it and revising it and submitting it to a few agents. If they don't bite though I'll keep writing. I know it won't be that good. It is my first novel after all.

Currently Word Count is at 21,000. Halfway there.
